Drip Drip Drip’s Hat Darn Leaky Faucet!

The first thing you need to do is turn off the water supply to the sink, most of the time the valve is located right underneath, if not you need to follow the plumbing line to the nearest shut off valve. If the valve resists being turned, put a drop or two of oil right where the stem disappears into the large nut. Then use a wrench to loosen the nut one complete turn, and tighten it back up by hand. Wait for a couple of minutes and then you should be able to turn the valve off. The second thing to do is remove the stem from the top of the fixture, then there will be nut that needs to be turned counterclockwise to be taken off.

Your almost finished, just need to replace the washer, which should still be attached the ball assembly you just pulled out, there’s a screw holding it on so remove that, replace it with the new washer, tighten the screw back on, be sure not to go to tight where the washer starts to become damaged. If it still leaks it may mean you have to replace the valve seat or replace the entire fixture. You will need to purchase a repair kit that you can find at your local plumbing supply or hardware store.

Use the following steps to replace the ball type fixture: Using the end of the screwdriver, lift out the rubber seats and springs. Replace them with the new ones in the kit. Tug the spout off the base by turning it from side to side and lifting up. Then use the screwdriver to leverage the old O-rings off the base. If they need to be cut off, make sure that you clean off any remaining pieces. Roll the new O-rings over the base to replace them.

Pin Hole Leak In Copper Water Pipe?

Is there a quick cheap patch? I am totally broke. I was wondering if there is a plumbing tape or something that can buy me some time.
Thanks

The two water intake pipes dont have valves on them. Could anyone give me a tip to maybe other location where it might be. I got the power off to it but its leaking into the insulation now and i need to cut the water to it asap. Thanks.

Plumbing Leak Under Sink?

We have one of those rubber spray hoses for our sink and it ended up leaking quite a lot. So I thought I could turn off the pipe that the hose is connected to. The problem is that this turned off the hot water tap as well so I decided to go out and buy a compression blanking cap to just cap off the hose connection. So i removed the hose, attached the blanking cap quite tightly with a spanner and turned the water back on. But there is still a leak coming out from that connection and I don’t know why? Do I need to attach something else? And please don’t just tell me to tighten it, because it is as tight as it can go.
Thanks

Reasons Why Water Heater Would Leak?

Any reasons why a water heater, made in 2003 would be leaking?Looks like it’s coming from the bottom.. And, it says it has a 9 yr warranty..Does that usually mean they might actually pay to fix it? This is just a parts warranty, I understand we would pay the labor…
Thanks

Plumbing…hot Water Heater Leak?

My old hot water heater was leaking at the T&P valve. We tried everything we were told to do and it still was leaking so we decided to buy a brand new one. We installed that one and it is also leaking at the T&P valve. I was told by a plumber to use a gauge and check the water pressure going into my house. We did that last night and it was right around 100. One plumber told me I need to install an expansion chamber and another plumber told me to install a pressure reducing valve and another told me to install a pressure regulator. (I work around plumbers). Any advice on which on to install? And where do we install it? On the cold water line going to hot water heater? On underground main going into my house? Underneath the ground on the water line?

It is in an outside closet which shares a wall with the garage. The plywood under the heater is wet, and the concrete in the garage is damp. I live in an area that has very hard water and don’t know if this could be the problem. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this? There is a lot I can do (as a single woman) but I know nothing about water heaters! Any help out there would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
