I recently inherited a New England farmhouse assessed at $400,000. The roof needs to be replaced along with plumbing, electric etc. My credit is in the low 600 range and I am not working, as I am a full time student. I am a disabled vet so I do have a set income and my wife does as well. Would it be hard for us to get a equity loan for around 160, 000 with less then good credit.
Thanks

I have a background in the construction/skilled trades. I worked for a heating and air conditioning company for five years, a temp employee for AT&T for about 5 months(Installation & repair technician), and was a plumbing specailist for two major home improvement stores. This is the first year since high school I’ve not had a job, and I hate sitting aroung at home.

After the noise occured, took the car home, popped the hood and noticed the old belt had split down the middle. next day got the belt replaced, got back on the highway accelerated almost full throttle and the noise came back, for about 20 seconds then just cut off.
It’s a high pitched almost winding noise that get louder as the revs increase and quiets as the revs decrease, almost sounds
electrical. kind of bizarre and freakin me out. thinking of taking to a dealership for an inspection. hope its not major.

I live in an area with very hard water, and have had to replace two water heaters in 6 years due to sediment buildup. If I were to put in a whole-house water softening system, would that solve / reduce the hot water heater sediment problem? (That would not be the only reason for installing the water softener.) Thanks.

We hired someone to install the current dishwasher since we needed the electrical and plumbing hooked up. Will it be easy to replace it with a new one? The current one is only 1.5 yrs old.
