Grants For “going Green” With Home Renovation?

My parents have been married, and lived in the same home for over 37 years. Their home needs so many updates, and very few can they afford. The house itself is good structurally, but it needs plumbing, electrical, and insulation done/ and or redone. Are there any state or government grants for “going green” with a home renovation? We live in Ohio.

Why Does Copper Sometimes Stain Skin Green?

and why does this happen on some people but not others? I understand that copper oxidizes and turns green (see outdoor copper plumbing) but I am wondering whether the skin of some people may promote oxidation and in other people it may not? I would love to get some references on this. Plus, is there anything you can do to treat your copper jewelry to prevent this green discoloration? Thanks.

I wonder if it is possible to hire advance students to design and build a green (and affordable) home. I’m thinking about a shipping container house and find someone who can lay out wiring, plumbing, septic, isolation, etc. Do I need certified professionals in California to build one? Thanks so much for your answers.

How To Build a Windmill

Windmills are devices take wind energy and convert it into energy useable to power our needs. Windmills primarily take wind and use its blades to produce electrical energy. The windmill is a very useful machine in times of energy crisis. The concept of wind energy is nothing new.  It has been used for pumping water and towing boats for decades. People have used their knowledge of how to make a windmill to create wind energy for decades.

As we enter into our own energy crisis, it is up to us to make a difference and make it right by turning to alternative energy such as wind power. As a financial move, a windmill is a great investment.  Especially in the farm areas and countrysides across the world. Windmills that are placed in farm areas and countryside work better for optimization than in highly-populated city areas.

What are the prerequisites for setting up a windmill?

The place where the solution is to be implemented should have an area of at least one acre.

You want at least an acre of land so the windmill blades can get enough wind power to be able to produce wind energy for usage.

Another thing to keep in mind when installing your windmill is to be sure your area has the average wind speed of 11 miles per hour blowing through your neighborhood. In order to reach 11 miles per hour wind speed, be sure you aren’t installing a windmill in areas surrounded by high-rise buildings or any tall towers. If you are unsure of the wind speed in your area, a quick search on the internet can help you find the information you are looking for.

You will need the following components to make a windmill.

Blades: These are typically made of wood or plastic, and obviously can withstand high wind speeds.

Tower: The tower is what holds the system high enough to be able to use the wind to convert it into wind power.  Typically it is made out of poly-vinyl cholride.

Shaft: The shaft is used to connect the tower and the blades together.  It also lets the blade run smoothly for it to capture the wind to create wind energy.

Base: It is the base that is found at the bottom of the system and which that is the foundation that keeps the tower upright and the blades secure.

How is a windmill set up? There are many windmill guides out there can that help you build your own windmill or find someone who is certified to install one for your household or property.

Find a review of great guides such as Earth 4 Energy review to see if it fits your needs in helping you build your own wind energy system today.  These guides also help you learn how to make solar energy.

This hot water heater sometimes overheats and sometimes wont kick on but I think the slime may be insulating the thermostat.

Go Green?!?

A few friends and I have recently started a go green club at school. The response to this club was tremendous. Were trying to think of ideas on making our school and surrounding area eco-friendly. Our first few simple ideas were getting recycling bins for our school, decorating our courtyard with flowers, and replacing our regular sink faucets with motion censored ones. Were also planning on holding a volleyball tournament to raise money for a unicef/helping the enviroment type organization. Any ideas for organizations that we can become involved with or any ideas for our community or school would be greatly appreciated. thanks =)

I am just worried that the green rusk means the pipe will break soon. Can I coat it with some anti-rust oil?

Need to know what products are covered and how much you get as a tax credit in Florida.
