I just bought a house that has been sitting empty for a few months. I had the water turned on today and when I turned on the “master” valves in my utility room, I noticed a hissing sound coming from the laundry closet. I think that means there is water running somewhere because the usage meter is slowly spinning around when no sinks or anything in use. The sound is kind-of loud. I checked back a few hours later and looked everywhere for leaks, including the outside fixtures, but I didn’t see any. No moisture to be found. I don’t know what else to do! I ended up shutting the water back off, just to make sure I don’t flood the place.

My water supply comes in through a 3/4″ pipe and then shrinks to a 3/8″ pipe that supplies water to my faucets, tub, washer, etc.
If I change the pipes to be consistently 3/4″ will I be able to have:
Better water pressure?
Better water distribution (to avoid lack of pressure when showering and having the washer running simultaneously)?
Also, if pressure is increased, provided all other fixtures remain the same (and that the time spent using water [i.e. a 10 minute shower] does not change), will my water consumption increase and cause my water bill to potentially increase?

I have a picture of mt saint hellens erupting with a plumb in the shape of an indian head in a war bonnet. i want to sell posters but dont want anyone to take any copies with out me knowing.

What could be the cause of this, the water heater is never running when I check it which is now 10 times a day at least. Im confused. The basement where the water heater is located is kept at about 60 degrees but i don’t think this could have an effect.

Where Did This Lump On My Testicle Come From?

Now, I’ve felt my balls before … many times over. This is new. This isn’t the plumbing I’m combing my fingers over. This is a pea sized lump in my sack.
I’ve had a cyst on my nuts once, but this feels different. Should I get it checked out? I just noticed it today, so it must have sprung up pretty fast. Super ball cancer?

We have back to back kitchen sinks, share a common Y pipe before leading to the apt building’s main pipe. When she uses disposer, water (and her dinner) backflows into my sink. If I use a “test plug” (with the twist top to create a tight seal) will that stop it from backing into my sink? I believe all the clogs are on her side, as i don’t put my dinner down the drain like she does. Will water pressure cause my pipes to burst? In addition to her, we also have 3 floors above us who share the main pipe, but the neighbor and I are the only ones on the Y pipe before it goes to the main pipe.

my upstairs neighbor’s sink has often, for years, drained too fast and backed up into mine! gross and unhealthy! it has to stop! is there a gadget or something to install? the mgmt is too dumb to fix it, i have to solve this for them. I am ground floor, neighbors are 2nd story. it rains a lot here, in case that matters. I need to make their drain go slower so it won’t come up into my sink….etc.

The lizard was about 1-2 months old and was a plumbed basilisk. It started to act very strange a day or two before it died. It wouldnt open its eyes or just one eye would open, it would hardly move , stopped eating, ect. Could this have been from dehydration? The day it died it started to move in a very strange manner and its body kept locking up as if it were a seizure or something and then the body just stopped moving and went stiff.
