I have a leaking tub faucet so I have to turn main water control off cause even though it is off, there is a leak somewhere directly underneath the lever. EX turned it off(more tightly, so no longer hear hissing), figured I could use the other lever to turn on outside faucet on to fill buckets but it was broken in past, only has an 1/2 inch in circumference pipe sticking out of ground….now what can I wrap around it to make a water hose to make it easier to fill my buckets?? Please help me. I an unemployed right now(5 months now) so no money to fix the major problem for now. Thank you

I have an outdoor faucet that is leaking through the handle. However, it only leaks through the handle when I turn it on. When turned off, it does not leak. Anyway, I decided to change the faucet. I’m a bit confused on getting the old faucet off. It’s connected to 1/2 inch copper pipe but I cannot unscrew it. I was wondering if it could have been soldered on rather than screwed on. How do you tell? Also, if it is soldered on, How do you remove it?

I live in a prefabricated ranch home built in the mid 1980’s. When they built the home, they neglected to put in an access to the plumbing for our shower/bath tubs. We cannot find the replacement faucet part because it’s exclusively a prefab home part and the part is so antiquated that they do not sell it at any prefab supply place.
So, we think we have to tear out the wall behind the shower to create an access and totally replace the fittings to modern home standards. If you’ve had to tackle this problem, please give me some pointers. We don’t want to tear out the wall behind if we don’t have to. One of the bath tubs backs to our dining room and an access would look very unsightly.

my hubby and I disagree, he says the whole house (15 years old built by a prominent builder) was plumbed backwards. under all sinks the hot is on the right and the cold on the left. I say this is the standard he says the hot should be on the left.

I am fixing a leaky compression valve faucet. I cannot for the life of me get the valve unscrewed. I am turning it counterclockwise. I have tried to loosen it with coke, CLR and a automotive penetrating oil and used socket sets and wrenches. If I keep going I am going to strip the valve. Am I doing something wrong? Is there something on the underside I should be undoing first? Any help?

My shower/tub fixture has 3 handles. The hot and cold and then the diverter handle. When I turn the water on, water leaks out of the diverter handle. Can I remove the diverter handle and stem for repair without having to shut off the water off. Thanks….

…after it’s shut off. What do people do when the plumbing in the wall is above the faucet, causing extra water in the line to drain out after shut-off?
