I am in the state of California.
My apartment management gave written notice to enter my unit. They are within the legal time frame for the written notice.
They need to make an update/upgrade, and they want to do their annual inspection.
I told them that I want to be home when they enter my apartment. I asked if they could call before they enter, so that I could come home. The said they will not call me. They will not reschedule, either.
Can they enter my apartment without my being there because they gave their notice? Even if I told them that I need to be there?
Thanks for the help. I hope I gave enough details.

I was selling my home in WV rent to own. The buyer refused to sign agreement after moving in so I am taking her to court to regain possession of my property. she has not paid rent/housepayment grace period ended as of june 1and the grass is way over grown (I am being cited to correct the yard or have the city do it for me). I went to the home and it looks as though no one could possible be living in the home (I can see dog poo on floors and would like to clean up the mess before it sets in with the summer heat.
Question here: Do I as the owner have the right (even though we do have a status conference scheduled in 2 weeks) to notify her that I will be entering the home within 24 hours to do an inspection? I would like to place a notice on the door and then send her an email since I am sure she is not living in the home. Can I do this legally? or can she flat out refuse to allow me into the home?

Our condo mgmt company is in the process of conducting inspections etc and has informed us they are changing all our locks so they can have a master key to all the units. Their goal being if they want to get in and inspect (electric, fire alarms, whatever) and we are not home to let them in that they can just walk in on their own.
This doesn’t seem right to me. We also have a dog who is home alone during the day, so there is added concern. Whenever there is a notice of inspection we have told them when we can be home for the inspection, but the impression we are getting is a master key will be made anyway and they may enter our unit with or without our knowledge.
We live in Ontario, Canada…anyone know the condo owners rights in this matter?

I say yes.,My friend, who is an obsessive compulsive collector of junk says only if he is notified and is present. He wants to sue. I say just spend the money on clean up instead of a lawyer. My friend has 5 acres of junk of every kind. his land is zoned farm, It abuts residential land with well kept homes. The local zoning reg says the official has the “authority”.My friend says yes but the owner (him) must have been present.his town is small rual town in hartford county connecticut. The building inspector is also the zoning enforcement official.

I have a 95 yr. old house that some how I’m getting hot water in my toliet. There has been no plumbing done anytime lately. A friend mention that I had 1/2 pipe running to the hotwater tank and it should be 3/4inch. But it’s been that way since moving in 5yrs. ago. People think I’m crazy!

Told of inspection date, called to rearrange as would not be in. Came home to find post on table, realised they had come in while we’d been out even after we had changed the date. Place was a bit messy but main point is we pay rent and our possessions are inside. Could have been asleep, in shower when they let themselves in. Can they legally do this?

I live in an apartment complex and they are constantly sending out 24 hour advance notices to let tennants know that they will be entering the apartment on a certain day between certain hours. Supposedly the reason to enter is to inspect the interior of the apartment and ascess the condition of the ceiling, carpets, appliances, etc., for insurance purposes. That is all fine and dandy, but why do they need to do it several times a year? Isn’t once per year enough? I am starting to question the validity of these inspections. I have cooperated in the past however it plays havoc on my day. The “inspection” is during my work hours, which means I must take time off to be home for the inspection. I don’t know what time they will be to my apartment as all I am told is a “target” time. Sometimes they are early and then sometimes miss the “target” time completely. I do not want to cause trouble but I don’t want them entering my apartment when I am not here. Can I refuse to allow them to enter?

Two weeks ago an inspection was done of my apartment. I was in the shower. They agreed to come back only when I told them through the door I was naked. Is it OK for housing inspectors and personnel to come in without my permission or when I am not home or I don’t hear them knock? Now there is another one scheduled for my aparment bldg this week. What are my rights in this situation?
