A 1/2″ pvc AC condensate drain slopes down and empties down into an upright 2″ pvc pipe (used for washer drainage).
Inspector says its no good because of chance of contamination of airstream.
There’s no where else to go with it except a floor drain in the middle of the room which wood be dumb.
Someone said separate the pipes with an air gap.
Will this make it pass code? Can both washer an condensate go into same drain pipe.

We are looking for a new house, to get out of this renting thing, and are debating wheather it would be dumb to get one with no basement. Someone told us its better to have a basement, and also would be better to have a basement cause if you ever have to repair plumbing pipes or whatever its cheaper. Any thoughts on this from anyone to wheather a basement is that big a deal or not…….cause we are finding lots of nice houses but they have no basement……Thanks for your thoughts lol…………

I know regulations probably vary from state to state. I have an unfinished basement (new build) with plumbing. I am considering constructing a commercial kitchen for small scale food biz.

We are putting a rec. room in our basement and would like to add a bath with just a toilet and sink. We don’t want to dig into the ground for the toilet and heard that there is a type of toilet that doesn’t require that. I guess it just goes right into existing plumbing. Has anyone ever heard of this? What is it called?

I’m replacing a discontinued unit direct vent or power vent water heater from Bradford White that was installed by previous owner of my house. I’m trying to get my brain wrapped around why they chose to get a direct/power vent installed since my contractor tells me I can just get an electric water heater and be on my way. Am I missing something?
