I am having a plumbing issue with my basement laundry tub, which is directly below our kitchen sink. When I do dishes in the kitchen, the laundry tub fills with the dirty dish water and drains very slowly. When I do laundry, the water from the rinse cycle fills the wash tub and also drains very slowly. I can’t do laundry and dishes on the same day. Boo hoo but yes, it is annoying. When the laundry tub is finally empty, there is grime in the bottom that looks to me like a very watery cement mixture, a little grainy and slippery from the laundry soap. I try to be very careful with what I let go down the drain. We tried draino and that didn’t work. All other drains in the house are fine. Any advise would be much appreciated!

I Need Practical Plumbing Experience/work…?

I have just started studying for a City & Guilds Level 2 Technical Certificate (6129) in Plumbing and EAL Level 2 Certificate. I am studying through OLCI and am looking to complete my first workshop in January and then at least 2 a month there after.
I am currently out of work and am looking for my first step on the ladder in plumbing so am asking if anyone will give me a chance?
I am a very hard worker and don’t mind working long hours. I am prepared to work for minimum wage (or whatever seems suitable) and don’t mind doing basic stuff to start until i’ve gained experience.
I live in Essex and do not mind travelling but i currently do not drive although hope to pass my test in March/April ‘08.
So if anyone can help please let me know as i can start asap.

Some agents charge inspectors to be on their list.Shouldn’t inspectors have to be liscensed in all states.Shouldn’t all inspectors have to guarantee their inspection.Shouldn’t there be a national law against inspectors working for agents.Inspectors that work for their client instead of the agent, get blacklisted by most agents. It makes me think that agents & their inspectors are the same as used car salesmen.Shouldn’t all inspectors be certified. You can pick your own inspector, but then agents don’t like to work with you, because the inspector does to good of an inspection & kill the sale for the agent.Isn’tthe inspector suppose to do a good inspection & not an agent type inspection.

Tankless Water Heater - Problem With Hot Water?

Hi, We are renting an apartment in Spain and we have a tankless (brand name is Neckar) water heater which is powered by butane gas. Every time we have a shower, we get only about 2 or 3 minutes of hot water and then the water turns cold. We go back to the heater and find out we have to relight the pilot light. Needless to say this is getting very frustrating. Our landlord is travelling and unable to help us. Any ideas? Are we doing something wrong?

Ok, I know basic plumbing techniques. however, I tried to heat the pipes and then put the soldering on it, but it seems like the soldering is not melting on the pipes, do I need flux? What is flux by the way? Now what I did was cut the bad piece away and I am going to home depot tomorrow to get a new joint piece. I want to do it the right way but I am a step away from buying a flexible tube and using 2 pipe clamps! I heated the original pipe to the right temp… I waited for the flame to go green, then I rubbed the soldering on it but it did not melt. What the hell am I doing wrong!!! Losing my mind! Any help?

How Do I Locate Rough Plumbing Under Basement Floor?

I am in the process of finishing my basement. I purchased the house 3 yrs ago as a spec home. I was told by the builder that the basement was “rough plumbed” for a bathroom, but he had a “thin layer” of concrete poured over the plumbing in the event that the purchaser did not want to put in a bathroom. The builder marked the floor with a marker where he said the pipes for the toilet, tub, and sink would be at. I have drilled several holes with a masonry bit, chipped the concrete away down approximately 1″, and I can not locate where the pipes are. Any idea how I can locate the pipes?

it seems that you can only but cold fill machines now mine is hot/cold fill and on its last legs i dont want to dismantle the kitchen as the plumbing is great and new all i want to know are pipes universal and can i use my cold fill pipe in a new machine

Plumbing: Water Flow Stops.?

Hi. We’re on a jet pump and have been having trouble with breaks in our water flow.
We had a house fire in April that involved very minor plumbing repairs, but afterward we noticed that the water would stop for a second or two every once in a while but always kick back in at full pressure and be fine.
We’re also in an area that had drought up until a few weeks ago, so my husband thought it might be drought related. My father is convinced it’s the water heater protecting itself from running dry. I don’t quite understand how that would work.
Now the breaks have gotten longer and longer– up to a minute now. I’ve been investigating a bit and can say that the pressure and water supply seem fine. We have water as soon as the pump kicks in– it’s just taking longer for the pump to kick in.
Any ideas? I’m thinking if I call the pump man I’ll get another new pump and if I call the water heater guy I’ll get another new water heater. They’re both relatively new :) Thanks!!

Would like to run a main line, then plug each water heater into a four-plug outlet. Question is how do I wire the new breaker and then how do I wire the four-plug outlet?
