Plumbing - Hot Water System Overflow Problem?
The overflow pipe from my hot water system is dripping quite fast, it seems to be dumping about 2 buckets of water at least per day. This has happened over the last 2 days. Should I get a plumber? And how urgent is this likely to be?

Yes… most likely your pop off valve needs to be replaced what is happening is pressure is building up in the tank from over heated water if this continues the valve could burst and cause a huge mess. Good luck
you can open the valve by pulling the lever to a 90 degree angle to the tank. flush it a little. than you can tap the center pin a little if it doesnt seal. If that doesnt work you need a new one.
US Answer. If you are writing about the temperature/pressure relief valve, try opening and closing it several times to see if it will re-seat itself. Often junk in the water/tank will get stuck and cause dripping. Be prepared with a new TPRV in case matters only get worse. Very easy to turn off water, unscrew old valve and thread in a new one using Teflon tape on exposed threads.
It’s likely your pressure reduction valve which drops the mains water pressure, and may just require adjusting, you can do this yourself if you know a little about it otherwise get someone who does, if not then a plumber. If an adjustment doesn’t work then you will need a plumber…
