95 Caprice 5.7, After Accelerating Hard, Loud High Picthed Noise Occurs?
After the noise occured, took the car home, popped the hood and noticed the old belt had split down the middle. next day got the belt replaced, got back on the highway accelerated almost full throttle and the noise came back, for about 20 seconds then just cut off.
It’s a high pitched almost winding noise that get louder as the revs increase and quiets as the revs decrease, almost sounds
electrical. kind of bizarre and freakin me out. thinking of taking to a dealership for an inspection. hope its not major.

Try tightening the belt. Make sure that it has only 1/2″ of play in it once you tighten it. By play I mean when you push on the belt as close to the center between two pulleys as you can the belt should not move more than 1/2″. That’s all I have. I think I’m right so give it a check. If not then do a couple searches on “acceleration belt squeak” or something along those lines and I bet you’ll find something. Check the belt tension first though. Good luck.
replace the tension idler pulley and have the alternator replaced / checked for a bad diode or triode.
that noise is the friction from THE TIRES SQUEALING on the pavement . lighten up on the gas pedal .
just joking …
try looking at the alternator or the smog pump , the bearings in either end may be going it sounds to me like your alternator is the culprit , sometimes the pulley will seize up for a second , cutting the belt then free itself until it seizes altogether … if your hearing RF noise from your radio = alternator off idle stumble or bog = smog pump … hope i can help
