Bath Tap Leak Problem?

Or “faucet” to Americans.
The bath tap sometimes leaks water onto the floor if it’s not shut fully tight; instead of dripping into the bath tub, the water travels along the underside of the tap, along the back of the bath and down onto the floor. It only happens sometimes (I think it’s when the water is “thick”) but it made a real mess last time.
Is there a simple way to fix it without replacing the taps?

Go to Bunnings and buy a re-seating tool and some new tap washers. Its a good idea to replace the body washer and ‘O’ rings as well. It is a really easy job to do and the guys at Bunnings will tell you how to do it. Firstly turn the water meter off (water will go everywhere if you don’t!!), then you take the handle off your taps and with a spanner you take the spindle out (this is what the handles where on). Once you have the spindle out you will see the old washer, pull it out with long nose pliers if it is deep. With the washer out, screw down your new re-seating tool and give it a couple of turns and take it out. If you look inside you will see some shiny new brass, this needs to be even all round, if not you will need to keep going with the re-seating tool until it is. Next is to put the new washer in and replace the spindle and handles and you should have no more drips!!! If you want to do the ‘O’ rings you will need to pull the spindle apart. Hold the spindle upright and turn the top section (where the handle joins) as if you where turning the tap off and eventually you will see where the ‘O’ ring goes. Change the tap washer. End of problem.
It needs a new tap washer and the washer seat ins9ide the tap needs to be recut its an easy cheap job for a plumber.~~
put a towel under it or sponge.
if u crank the valve tighter & tighter u will damage the valve seat & new rubber wont seal. at that point the valve seat can be recut maybe.
